Ninety-eight councillors have been recognised for their decades of service to Queensland communities at the 130th Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) Annual Conference in Cairns.

The councillors, from regions across the state, have each completed at least three local government terms, with individual service spanning from 10 to 45 years.

A full list of the recipients can be viewed here.

“Congratulations to all those recognised - and thank you for the difference you make every day in your communities,” LGAQ President Mayor Matt Burnett said.

“We have introduced this recognition for the first time, in addition to our long standing long service recognition program, to spotlight the enduring dedication of these councillors.

LGAQ CEO Alison Smith congratulated the recipients, who received a commemorative lapel pin, and said the initiative recognised the vital contribution of councillors in their communities.

“Councillors are hard-working representatives who serve their communities in good times and in difficult times,” Ms Smith said.

“I want to congratulate these councillors for their long service, which has done so much to improve the liveability of the communities they represent.”
