Queensland Water Regional Alliance Program

The Queensland Water Regional Alliance Program (QWRAP) is a collaborative initiative between the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ), Queensland Water Directorate (qldwater), the Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers (DLGWV), and participating councils. Established in 2011, QWRAP aims to strengthen regional collaboration and ensure sustainable, safe, secure, and reliable urban water and sewerage services across regional and remote Queensland.

The program currently supports 57 councils through nine regional alliances that address local priorities while contributing to state‑wide water security, capability and infrastructure sustainability objectives.

QWRAP benefits from a standing commitment of $2 million per annum from the Queensland Government, reflecting the program’s success and the State’s long term policy intent. QWRAP continues to deliver strong outcomes by supporting councils to manage pressures arising from ageing infrastructure and workforce constraints.
