Works for Queensland

The Palaszczuk Government’s Works for Queensland program has played a pivotal role in providing more than 21,000 jobs across Queensland since it began in 2017.

These jobs, and the $600m funding injection, have been critical in supporting regional economies challenged by drought and natural disasters.

But the success of Works for Queensland is much more than just these facts and statistics.

It’s a success story about people, it’s about how councils through local decision making can help create sustainable economies, improve lifestyle and inspire pride and hope in communities.

It is so much more than bricks and mortar and should be celebrated for the successful partnership that has been created as two levels of government work together to deliver on their respective community priorities.

The LGAQ’s member councils are seeking permanent funding support from the State Government for Works for Queensland to continue supporting their communities and local projects.

This ambition was supported by a resolution carried at the LGAQ Annual Conference.
