Conference discount ends today

The early-bird prices for the 2016 LGAQ Annual Conference ends at close-of-business today.

The event, which is being held on the Gold Coast, is themed “New World Order” and will focus on global upheaval and its effects on Queensland councils.

LGAQ chief executive officer Greg Hallam said the theme reflected the economic, political and technological changes that were posing both challenges and opportunities for communities across the globe.

“All communities will experience this change,” he said.

“It is not about the urban-rural divide. New technology and innovative business models mean it’s about how you live, rather than where you live.”

The conference’s program features two and a half days of plenary, split plenary, world-class speakers, specialist forums and panel sessions, exhibitions, a gala dinner and the LGAQ’s AGM.

Mr Hallam said the event was an important opportunity for councils to debate and vote on new policy while networking and upskilling.

The LGAQ Annual Conference will be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre at Broadbeach on 18-20 October. For more information, contact 1300 542 700 or
