Telecommunications in new developments is under review
In light of recent and upcoming changes in the provision of telecommunications in new developments, the Commonwealth Department of Communications and the Arts (the Department) is undertaking a review of the Telecommunications in New Developments (TIND) Policy, which came into effect in March 2015.
The 2015 TIND Policy provides a framework for the provision of telecommunications infrastructure in new developments and promotes competition between providers in the supply of such infrastructure.
The Department is seeking feedback on the 2015 TIND Policy and has released a discussion paper Review of the 2015 TIND Policy, for comment which summarises:
- the main elements of the 2015 TIND Policy (section 2)
- the reasons for the current review (section 3)
- elements of the TIND policy proposed to continue (section 4), and
- key issues that have been identified for further examination (section 5).
The Department is aiming to complete the review of the 2015 TIND Policy and make any necessary changes before 1 July 2020.
