Records relating to vulnerable people - your consultation is requested

Consultation

Wednesday, 13 November 2019

Queensland State Archives (QSA) has released for final consultation, draft disposal authorisations and guidance on creating records relating to the proactive protection of vulnerable persons.

Following consultation in July on the draft disposal authorisation and guidance developed in response to recommendations 8.1-8.4 of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse (RCIRCSA), the draft disposal authorisation and guidance has been expanded to cover all vulnerable persons.

SEE previous Consultation Request

This is to address the feedback from agencies as well as anticipated recommendations from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety (RCACQS) and the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (RCVANEPD).

The draft disposal authorisation and guideline will apply to all Queensland Public Authorities. As the implementation of this new guidance will have implications for the management of records within councils, the QSA is keen to ensure councils review and provide review this final consultation draft.

How to participate

We have contacted the CEO of your public authority to request a formal response to these final draft documents. This formal response is due by 6 December 2019.

NOTE: Your CEO may distribute these draft documents and consultation survey to those in your public authority that are in the best position to provide comment.
