Podcast: The review of Queensland's Environmental Offsets Framework

Monday 29 April 2019

The review of Queensland's Environmental Offsets Framework is currently underway.

The aim of the review is to ensure that's Queensland's biodiversity values are protected through effective offset delivery.

What is an environmetal offset?

An environmental offset compensates for unavoidable impacts on significant environmental matters, (e.g. valuable species and ecosystems) on one site, by securing land at another site, and managing that land over a period of time, to replace those significant environmental matters which were lost.

(You can find out m ore about this at the Queensland Government's website here.)

Crystal Baker, LGAQ lead for planning and development, chats with Kristy Gooding, LGAQ lead for natural assets and natural resource management, about what this means for Queensland and what was in LGAQ's submission to the review.
