ecoBiz helping councils prepare for waste levy

Friday 23 August 2019

CCIQ ecoBiz is a free program, funded by the Queensland Government, that helps councils and business save money across their energy, water and waste bills.

Over a dozen councils have been engaged by the ecoBiz program to-date for services and facilities inlcuding biocontrol, showgrounds, airports, offices, community centres and libraries.

The program includes one-on-one coaching sessions to provide tailored advice on how to reduce energy, water use and water costs. More recently, the program has also been used to help councils who are seeking assistance for local businesses with preparing for the waste levy.

ecoBiz offers the following advice in preparing for the waste levy:

  • Order in bulk where possible
  • Engage with your waste contractor or service provider
  • Request eco-efficient packaging
  • Reduce paper waste
  • Reduce disposables within your office
  • Try composting
  • Segregate waste
  • Review inventory controls

For more information on how ecoBiz can help either your Council or local businesses, please contact the ecoBiz team on 1300 731 988.
