Monday, 2 December 2019

The Electoral and Other Legislation (Accountability, Integrity and Other Matters) Amendment Bill 2019 was introduced by the Attorney-General into the Queensland Parliament on 28 November 2019.

It contains some important proposed changes to the Local Government Act 2009, including a new proposed framework for managing conflicts of interests.

The LGAQ has referred the Bill to King & Company for advice and will be making a submission to the Economics and Governance Committee, which is examining the Bill.

Members are invited to provide input into the LGAQ submission (deadline Monday 6 January 2020) by emailing Stephan Bohnen, Lead - Intergovernmental Relations, and/or make direct submissions (deadline midday, Thursday 9 January 2020).

Further information about the Bill can be found on the DLGRMA website, including an information paper.
