Age-friendly Regional Workshops
The Minister for Communities and Minister for Disability Services and Seniors, Hon. Coralee O'Rourke is inviting all local councillors, community development officers, economic development officers, planning officers, environmental health officers, community program coordinators, business owners, and service providers to regional workshops to help build an age-friendly Queensland.
An age-friendly community is where older people are valued, respected and actively engaged in their community. They can stay in touch with people they care about and find the services and support they need. Age-friendly communities are more liveable for everyone.
Local government, businesses and community organisations can all benefit from an age-friendly community.
The workshops will:
• develop a shared understanding of age-friendly cities and communities
• hear practical success stories
• learn about the five step plan to make more age-friendly communities
• help shape community priorities for action
• find out how you can stay connected, collaborate with others, and showcase your successes.
These workshops are by invitation only. Some councils will have already received their invitations for the first few workshops.
The following are the dates and locations for the workshops:
- 9 April Yeppoon
- 11 April Roma
- 16 April Cairns
- 9 May Maryborough
- 28 May Longreach
- 30 May Mackay
- 11 June Brisbane
