Have your say on remote area tax concessions

Published: 27th March 2019

The Australian Productivity Commission has released an issues paper on Remote Area Tax Concessions and Payments for a current Inquiry.

Many councils addressed this issue in submissions to the Senate Economics References Committee Inquiry into regional inequality, conducted last year.

The LGAQ’s Infrastructure, Economics and Regional Development team prepared the submission to the Senate Inquiry and has commenced research to prepare a submission to the current Productivity Commission Inquiry.

We invite councils to provide material that they would like included in the LGAQ submission to the Productivity Commission, to be received no later than 15 April 2019.

Individual councils and ROCs may wish to also make a separate submission, and the details for making a submission can be found here.

If your council or ROC makes a submission, the LGAQ would also appreciate receiving a copy for its records so it may support common positions at any future public hearings.

Please review the Inquiry terms of reference and send information that may inform the LGAQ submission by 15 April to ask@lgaq.asn.au
