Mayor Mark Jamieson’s Presidential address to the 2020 LGAQ Annual Conference

The LGAQ President, Mayor Mark Jamieson, presented at the opening of the 124th LGAQ Annual Conference, thanking Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk for committing to the continuation of the successful Works for Queensland program and many other programs and initiatives, as well as Queensland’s Chief Health Officer, Dr Jeannette Young, for keeping Queensland communities safe during the pandemic.

“Local government has risen to the challenge every time Queensland communities have been threatened; be it through fire, flood, cyclone or the ongoing drought. Right now, we are rising to the challenge again.” 

“Our communities expect that we will lead them into a new decade and to chart a course to a better future, which is why we must be unwavering in our focus on the policies, programs and innovative solutions that we will all need to achieve for the goals and aspirations of our communities,” Mayor Jamieson said.
