Local Disaster Management Officer Network
The Inspector General Emergency Management has recently launched a new way of engaging with and supporting engagement between council officers who are doing the ground work in the DM field.
The Chairs of LDMGs are often in contact with each other and senior managers are able to attend forums and workshops - but it is sometimes difficult for us worker bees to share with each other.
“Sharing experiences and ‘trouble shooting’ issues, situations and solutions can provide a level of practical support … [This} is to foster and support the development of a practical network that is driven by the group members with the identification and prioritization of issues determined by the group.”
This will be a great opportunity for our council operatives to come together virtually through the Local Disaster Management Officer Network to discuss issues, talk through solutions and help each other out.
We hope all councils will engage with this opportunity by nominating a representative at the officer level with experience in the local day-to-day operational activities.
