That is why Queensland councils are seeking a Federal Election commitment to restore Financial Assistance Grants back to at least one per cent of Federal taxation –a small ask that will go a long way towards improving the liveability of Queensland’s local communities.

Councils are also seeking a commitment that the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program be made permanent to help local communities connect and thrive.

Making the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program permanent will create local jobs, support local businesses, and guarantee a continuing pipeline of works for years to come.
Liveable communities
The requests are part of a set of that will create more than 8 000 jobs and generate $1.5 billion in economic activity for Queenslanders.
