Brett Johnson

As Head of Assist, Brett leads the teams responsible for governance, compliance, workforce, industrial relations, disaster management, communications, events and member engagement at the LGAQ.

His stream provides daily support and advice to councils while also fostering sector-wide connection through training, outreach and events. Brett serves as the LGAQ’s representative on the State Disaster Management Group (SDMG) and acts as proxy for the LGAQ’s Chief Executive Officer on the Queensland Disaster Management Committee (QDMC).

With a professional background spanning both community services and local government, Brett has worked across all areas of the LGAQ since 2011. Over the past decade, he has held senior management roles, leading initiatives in social policy, digital transformation and member engagement. His focus has been on delivering practical, outcomes-driven initiatives that enhance capability and strengthen council performance across Queensland.
