Two weeks left to apply for active community infrastructure funding!
Closing date for EOIs 6 December 2019
The State Government’s Active Community Infrastructure initiative provides $40 million over 3 years under the Activate! Queensland Strategy 2019-2029, to deliver well-designed facilities and upgrades where they are most needed.
Organisations, including councils, are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for active community infrastructure projects that demonstrate:
- fit-for-purpose, universally designed infrastructure that improves accessibility and functionality of active places and spaces
- increased or improved accessibility for individuals and communities to provide broader community wellbeing
- projects that inspire activity in high-need communities across Queensland.
The State Government may invest up to $1 million (GST exclusive) per project.
How to submit an EOI
Round 1 EOIs for active community infrastructure project proposals are currently open.
Councils interested in submitting an EOI will need to contact their local Department of Housing and Public Works Sport and Recreation Office.
All EOIs will be considered against a range of guiding principles and need to align to the objectives of Activate! Queensland, and be a priority of the community. Projects which are not shovel ready may feed into a pipeline for further development and future consideration.
The closing date for Round 1 is Friday 6 December 2019, with successful projects expected to be announced in January 2020.
Round 2 EOIs are scheduled to open in March 2020.
Further information regarding the Active Community Infrastructure initiative, how to develop a project proposal, and the EOI guiding principles and terms and conditions, is available on the Queensland Government’s website – Active Community Infrastructure.
