The Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 review
The Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 is being independently reviewed over the next 12 months to ensure the Act is fit for the future. The EPBC Act 1999 plays a significant role in the protection and management of our environment and heritage.
A discussion paper has been released to guide the consultation process and focuses on the following:
- The role of the EPBC Act
- Better environment and heritage outcomes
- More efficient and effective regulation and administration
- Indigenous Australians’ knowledge and experience
- Community inclusion, trust and transparency
- Innovative approaches
The LGAQ will be making a submission, with submissions closing on 3 April 2020. If you wish to contribute, please provide all comments by 17 April 2020 to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. Detailed information about the review can be found here.
