Flying fox management code of practice review
The Department of Environment and Science is now entering the final stages of the review of the codes of practice and guidelines that underpin the Queensland flying-fox roost management framework.
To date, the department has consulted with various local government officers in November 2018 at a workshop in Cairns; invited written submissions in June 2019 from all relevant conservation and welfare groups and all local governments; and offered face-to-face or phone consultation in September 2019 to a number of conservation and welfare groups, CSIRO, and all local governments, to discuss specific potential changes and improvements. Based on this extensive consultation process, the department now proposes the following amendments to the flying-fox roost management framework for your consideration.
Please find attached the following documents, with proposed amendments in tracked changes:
- The Code of practice—Ecologically sustainable management of flying-fox roosts
- The Code of practice—Low impact activities affecting flying-fox roosts
- Flying-fox roost management guideline
The department would like to offer you the opportunity to provide any final comments on the above documents by return email, to the attention of Mr Christophe Manchon, by 13 December 2019.
