Mayors to attend Asia Pacific Cities Summit
Mayors and other local government leaders from urban areas across Queensland will travel to Brisbane’s sister city Daejeon, South Korea, to take part in this year’s Asia Pacific Cities Summit.
The event is the brainchild of Brisbane City Council, which promotes the summit as one of the Asia-Pacific region's premier business and civic forums, providing a platform for governments and businesses to identify a common agenda, improve city governance and promote trade and investments opportunities in the Asia Pacific region.
Speakers at the 2017 summit, whose theme is Shaping the Future of the Asia Pacific, include geopolitical and foreign affairs expert Jared Cohen, futurist Thomas Frey and Cherie Blair.
The summit follows the recent series Future Brisbane in The Courier-Mail, looking at what needs to be done if the Queensland capital and the southeast of the State are to fully reap the benefits of economic growth in the Asia-Pacific.
