Bruce Highway Trust a positive first step
Vital economic assets should be lifted above daily political debate
The Palaszczuk Government deserves praise for seeking to ensure decisions affecting vital economic assets like the Bruce Highway are lifted above daily political debate.
Local Government Association of Queensland chief executive Greg Hallam said Labor’s proposed Bruce Highway Trust was a good first step toward developing a long term planning and investment strategy for Queensland’s principal transport artery.
He said the LGAQ would like to see similar arrangements put in place for other major road and transport assets such as the Warrego Highway.
'We would like to see the idea of the Bruce Highway Trust broadened to include other key highways across the State, especially those that link western Queensland hubs to the coast,' he said.
